Just some of my thoughts and ramblings

Doctors Just Annoy Me Sometimes

So my GP is a nut on Fibromyalgia (hence forth called Fibro). He has been one of the leading doctors about finding out what causes it and what to do for it let alone diagnosis. He seems a bit stuck on the Fibro and doesn’t seem to understand that the little pain I have from the Fibro is covered up from the DDD pain. So he wanted me to see this Fibro specialist. As most know who have Fibro there are points that when touched will let the doctor know if you have Fibro or not and how bad. I had an intern poke at me first. Ok not too bad. Then the specialist came in. OH MY GODDDDD! I finally got fed up with what he was doing to the back to elbow the sucker! Yes I elbowed him after fair warning that enough was enough.
The day after I am in a flare up. BTW he didn’t know what I meant by “flare up”. It bothers me a bit when I know more than the specialist.
So his answer to all the back pain from the DDD was to treat the Fibro pain. (now remember I don’t really have that much Fibro pain because of the DDD pain masking it (I guess). So he write out a script for Lyrica. Yeah a new drug just approved by the FDA this summer for Fibro. Now I am all for getting rid of the pain but how is that going to help the DDD before “IT” gets so bad that nothing can be done and I can’t walk any more??????
Really all this Lyrica does is deaden the nerves so you don’t feel pain. So how does the body know there is something wrong if it can’t feel pain????? To me pain is a warning from the body that there is something wrong and it needs to be fixed if at all possible. Masking the pain just seems wrong.

Anyway I haven’t decided if I am going back or even going to try this Lyrica. I am uncomfortable about it since it is used for seizures. It also makes one tired and sleepy of which I don’t need to be more of.

Anyway I was hot after coming out of that office and called my GP. He finally got the message that I need to see a Nero Surgeon for the DDD and is setting that up.

Updates to come as they happen.

Love that you elbowed him! I think we should tell doctors, “I have a stick. For every poke you give me, I get to give you one back. : | ” My doctor decided he was going to conquer my neck. It hasn’t cracked to the left in several years. So, he whipped my chin around a few times, got determined, and whipped it a few more. I got to have a migraine for the next few days. Needless to say, I tell him not to try to crack my neck to the left. Maybe we should charge doctors for every hour of pain we’re in from them “treating” us. Would definitetly wipe out any bill we may have with them! Telling a doctor what you think needs to be done, and getting their advice from there is the best way to deal with a chronic condition. If they don’t listen to you, and at least address what you have said, it’s time to consider a different doctor. I hope you feel better! Stay warm, it’s chilly today. BB, Shai

I”ve always had “issues” with American doctors, and I won’t glorify the British medical system too much because it too has it’s faults, but to me American doctors always seem to be in the pocket of Big Pharma!! Every little thing is given a pill…..but like you’ve said it’s not helping your DDD(?), it’s a bandage on something that needs stiches and alot of them.
Hopefully you can get a referral and soon! And definetly don’t go back to this “ignorant specialist”…….Have you gone to a homeopathic doctor for your Fibro? Have you tried holistic medicines like Pulsatilla or Sepia pills?Just wondering…..
    Much Love and Light!!!!!
